How do I recognize a phishing email?

Phishing is one of the most common forms of cybercrime. Phishing emails are sent by hackers to trick you to send them your personal information or click on a link that infects your system with malware.

Protect yourself from phishing by learning how to recognise them.

Even if you're expecting an email from us, be cautious if you notice the following things:

• The email is sent from a public email domain like “@gmail.com”. We'll always send you an email from an email address that ends with @vidaxl.xx (xx = country code)
• The spelling of the address is incorrect. For example: @vidaLX.uk
• The content of the email stresses you with urgency. Many scam emails demand action right away, for example, ""Click the link below, otherwise in 24 hours your account will be deactivated.""
• Is the email asking you to claim a prize? Or making promises about receiving a lot of money? This is phishing.
• Is the email making guarantees about credit cards or loans after making a payment? This is phishing.
• Never make payments to unknown recipients.
• Is the email asking for your account or banking information? This is phishing. We'll never ask you to provide us with a password for your personal account.
